FROM THE PASTOR
This weekend we welcome Fr. Marty Pable, OFM Cap., to Rhinelander and Pelican Lake. Fr. Marty is a Capuchin Franciscan and previously served as a spiritual director and retreat director at St. Anthony Retreat Center in Marathon City. Currently he resides in Milwaukee and helps out in parishes on weekends. Meanwhile, I will be teaching a class for those who are preparing for the permanent deaconate in our Diocese.
Saturday, August 15, is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Because this year the Feast falls on a Sunday, the obligation to attend Mass is dispensed. However, the Feast is still celebrated and so a Mass will be offered on Saturday morning at 8:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church.
Ever since we made an adjustment to the Mass schedule, the ushers of Nativity Parish have had to work a little harder getting everyone seated and at times even set up extra chairs. It is great to see the church full this summer. However, we want to thank them for their work, so we are having our second annual usher’s picnic. This will be held at Hodag Park on Thursday, August 13. Festivities will begin at 4:00 pm.
