From The Principal

Welcome to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School! I am proud to share information about our school and invite you to take a closer look at what Nativity Catholic has to offer. With 113 years of commitment to educational excellence, Catholic faith values, and service to others, Nativity Catholic is dedicated to the development and success of every student that walks through our doors.

Through smaller class sizes, dedicated teaching professionals and support staff, challenging curriculum, and an inspired learning environment, Nativity Catholic helps students to shine. Students in our school are encouraged, nurtured, and cared about in order to help them reach their potential. Nativity Catholic provides a setting where students and families can learn and grow.

I invite you to take a moment and visit our website. On behalf of our entire school community, I hope your visit is an exciting one. I also invite you to contact us for a personal tour so you can experience, first-hand, the warm and welcoming atmosphere Nativity Catholic has to offer.

Nativity Catholic School                                                                                       February 17, 2017

It was Valentine’s Day and the celebration of the “100th Day of School” all rolled into one! The North Building students went all out as they dressed to “show their age” as 100 year old people. We had a great time as they did their celebration parade and gathered in Kohlbeck Hall to show their school spirit and a look at the past 100 days of school. (Go to Sycamore and Nativity Face Book for photos of our awesome students…and even Ms. Nehls)

Our Kindergarten students have worked very hard all year long to learn the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic, as well as, those important social skills and faith lessons.
Mrs. Dean and her assistant, Miss. Lexi, have taught the concepts of Kindergarten, and we have all watched them grow as children of God. To celebrate their families the students and teachers will host the “Kindergarten Family Dinner”, on Wednesday, February 22nd. The students will share their talents, parents will be able to view student work, and families will be have a chance to gather together to learn a little more about one another. I know the night will be filled with fun!

Second Graders in both our school and religious education programs have spent the past several weeks preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This time of reflection and forgiveness is an important stop on our journeys of faith. First Reconciliation will take place on March 9th and First Holy Communion will be celebrated on April 30th.

Thank you to parents, teachers, and Fr. Randy for sharing in this special journey.

The Fifth Graders are working hard on their “Youth Marketplace” products. This entrepreneurial program for 5th graders is a wonderful component in our curriculum and is cross-categorical so that students have lessons in a variety of content areas. Thanks to Mrs. Gauthier for directing the program and to those business and marketing people who have stopped in to speak to our students so the students will be well-prepared for their product research. I’ll keep you posted with further updates on their progress and the sale they will hold in the spring.
The remainder of the school year will go by quickly. With many families yet to turn in the information for the required service hours, I ask that you please make a concerted effort to do so. Perhaps you have completed your service hours and just need to turn in the forms. Sooner than later is better, as we are tracking the hours and logging the information you shared. If you have not yet completed your hours, there are many ways to assist the teachers, help with projects, or help with our parish activities, as that also supports our school. Contact your child’s teacher, the school offices, or Mrs. Heise to learn about ways to complete the hours.
Until next time…God bless.
