Academics

Nativity Catholic School is proud of its efforts in providing a developmentally appropriate and challenging curriculum for its students. Aligned with state and diocesan standards, the curriculum addresses the core content subjects of religion, reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Highly qualified teachers also provide instruction in Spanish, physical education, health, art, computer, and music.

To help ensure that all students learn, student services teams are developed to work with classroom teachers to implement high-quality, scientifically proven instructional practices based on each learner’s individual needs. Nativity Catholic also partners with the School District of Rhinelander to provide educational services to the students within the district. By partnering with parents, we are able to provide a strong, student-centered program that builds essential skills, nourishes curiosity, teaches critical thinking and problem solving, and promotes a love of learning for a lifetime. With Christ as the foundation of our school, students develop a sense of self-worth, respect for others, and a love of Jesus, while spending their days in a safe, environment where everyone is cared for and about.

Assessments

Students at Nativity Catholic School are assessed to determine their skill and ability levels, as well as find ways to best meet the individual needs of each learner. Within our school, assessments are given as a screening tool to find student strengths and areas where growth may be needed. In addition to progress monitoring in the content areas, learning is measured through standardized testing.

Nativity Catholic utilizes MAPS as its assessment tool. These computerized tools will directly reflect the growth of individual students and continue to provide teachers with immediate response to changing needs for the students. Nativity Catholic students in grades K-8 participate in the MAP assessments.

Accreditation

Nativity Catholic School is accredited, meeting the stringent educational standards and requirements of the Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Accreditation. We are committed to educational excellence, while meeting the individual needs of our children. Students at Nativity Catholic School score above national averages on standardized tests and continue that success throughout their high school careers. Students consistently place in the top ten percent of the graduating class at Rhinelander High School.
